Fort Douglas
Museum Expansion Project-
For more information call the Museum at (801) 581-1251

Exterior work on the main exhibit gallery is complete!

Bids are being collected for installation of the new utility lines and required climate control equipment for proper artifact preservation, and the elevator required for handicap access.

Design work for exciting new exhibits is underway. The increased exhibit gallery space will allow public access to many more of the museum's artifacts, and telling of many more facets of Utah's military history than just the story of Fort Douglas when it was an active Army post..

Subsequent phases will add the visitor entrance (between Buildings 31 and 32); renovate the old museum spaces for research use and reference collection storage to meet required standards.

Thanks to all our generous donors who have made this progress possible.!

Contact us if you would like to make a contribution.
Even small donations are greatly appreciated.

Historic Fort Douglas at the University of Utah
A most impressive site with photos and history of nearly every building(old and new), an extensive narrative history of the expansion and contraction of the size of Fort Douglas, and a "Walking Tour" booklet you can print out and use to explore the post.

Enjoy a review of Fort Douglas history and "virtual tour."
This outstanding project was completed by an Army Reservist, Master Sergeant Samual McBride, with a long history of assignments at Fort Douglas, and who is also a teacher with the Granite School District.
