Following ten years of planning, the museum has developed a vision for the future that will provide the facilities to support its major objectives. These future facilities include a Visitor's Center that will serve as the main entry to historic Fort Douglas and the museum. The Center will not only be an entrance and introduction to the museum, but will also highlight the University of Utah's award winning restoration of the historic buildings at the Fort to adapt them to current needs, while simultaneously preserving the historic value of the area. THE FUTURE OF THE MUSEUM
An addition will be constructed that will house the artillery collection that is presently outside in the Cannon Park. The Memorial Park will include both a meditation area and a Women's Military Memorial. Finally, the relocation of the oldest building on the Fort to the museum campus, will ensure not only its preservation but the opportunity to restore it.
This is an opportunity to be part of a project that will preserve our heritage and continue the proud tradition of those who passed through the gates of this Fort on their way to a higher service to their country.
